Everest 2025

Day 46 – Bianca Climbing Camp 3 → Camp 4

21 May 2025 · Posted by Fiona (Mum)

Hi all – Unfortunately I haven’t got an update from Bianca as yet. Her plan was to leave at 4:30am this morning. She has the tracker on her but either it’s not working or she’s forgotten to turn it on.

The climbing today is quite difficult – steep and a long day. For people that know Everest, the position of Camp 3 is now much lower than it used to be (due to shifts in the landscape). So this makes today – Camp 3-Camp 4 – a very long day. Most people are taking 8-11 hours.

I’ve been able to communication with Paul and he is still coughing and not well, but he feels well enough to stay at Camp 2 for the moment. This will be helpful for communications.

I’ll post again when we’ve heard from Bianca.

What’s Next?

If she’s feeling good and the weather forecast still looks ok, she’ll be resting at Camp 4 for a few hours before leaving for the summit early evening here. She’ll climb all through the night with the aim to get to the summit early morning.

By the way – please comment with any words of encouragement – I passed on some yesterday and she loves to receive them! I’ll do the same again today.

This is where Paul and Bianca parted yesterday – near the bottom of the Lhotse face. It’s quite warm but Bianca is dressed to go up higher and once climbing the wall, it’s difficult to adjust your clothes.
