More waiting around…
I’m starting to feel the altitude taking a real toll on my body. After about a month spent above 5300m (with a few days at low altitude) my body feels very tired and exhausted. I feel constantly tired even when napping multiple hours a day. Doing anything is a huge effort- by anything I mean going to the toilet or just getting out of bed. I try to remind myself that most others feel the same way, but it’s hard.
At this point my patience is being tested, and I just want to go for my summit push. I know that I will get into a groove and feel better when I start climbing. We still have to wait because our Sherpa guides still have 1 more carry up, and they are a bit sick. I am very nervous for this summit push, as I don’t know if I have what it takes. I have done everything I can to maximise my chances, but it’s hard to know if it’s enough.
To help here at base camp, I am drinking lots of electrolytes, vitamins and fluids in general. I am trying to eat but it’s hard with the altitude😭. I am also trying to sleep a lot to help my recovery.
I really didn’t do much today but hopefully tomorrow I will feel better and I can try to go for a hike to help my acclimatisation.
