Hey everyone! Bianca here and Dad, Tim and I summited Island peak 6189m this morning!
We left camp at 1am and summited at about 6am! It was so beautiful and so much fun getting to climb again and seeing all the beautiful surrounding mountains!
The climb was amazing, with basic rock scrambling until crampon point, which we reached at about 4am. From there we put our crampons and harness on and traversed through a glacier, with a few steeper sections. There was a short rock “wall” and then we arrived at the summit ridge after about 5 hours of climbing!
Conditions were PERFECT and it was the most beautiful morning! After the summit we descended back to camp where we changed and packed up our gear. We then walked the 11kms all the way back to Dingboche, almost 2000m lower than the summit of Island Peak!
