Everest day 12! – Gorakshep!

20 April 2026 · By Bianca

Oops, sorry for the lack of posting/writing, everyday has felt pretty similar since Island Peak!

We trekked from Dingboche to Lobuche (day after Island Peak summit) and we had great weather.

I met more lovely people who had been following me on social media for a while, some from Venezuela and some from Brisbane! I still find it so crazy! The majority of the people that have come up to me on this trek have been women, and it just makes me so happy to hear that I am helping to inspire more women to get outdoors and push themselves harder than we thought was possible. I love hearing about their treks, or other adventures they have been on, and I am over the moon knowing that on my instagram page is a little community of women who love the outdoors and want to get stronger! You have no idea how much it means to me!

Anyways…

In Lobuche (4900m) we met up with 2 great families and played lots of cards and walked up 15 mins to see the glacier. I slept pretty well, but Dad, Tim and I all had a bit of a stuffy nose after our big day on Island Peak. The next day we also had amazing weather (it usually follows the same pattern of sunny morning, bad weather in the afternoon) and walked with the 2 families, listening to some great tunes. We stopped by the Italian Pyramid, a climate research centre pretty much in the middle of nowhere! We had a tour that everyone found riveting ;)) and headed over to Gorakshep.

Gorakshep is the highest town on the EBC trek at 5100m and we arrived for lunch, just in time before the bad weather rolled in. We played lots of games, like “cheat” (Bullshit) and alphabetical country naming. Everyone is feeling pretty good, but the cold air with dust kicked up by yaks and mules definitely doesn’t help!
