We flew from Lukla down to Kathmandu (1300m) – this is to rest from being at such high altitudes, and to regain strength before attempting the summit of Everest.
Being here feels so crazy. I don’t want to mentally relax as I still have the hardest half of the expedition left. But it’s still very nice to have a bed and an appetite. I am extremely tired so I have been sleeping 12+ hours per day (+ naps). I wake up extremely thirsty, and even after chugging 2-3L of water I feel as if I haven’t drunken anything. I am making an effort to try to eat and drink as much as I can, and to take supplements and electrolytes.
My face is also extremely burnt from the sun reflecting off the snow and although on the mountain, many people look like this, but here in Kathmandu I really stick out.
I can finally call my mum, who is currently trekking into base camp which is so so nice. I am so excited to see her in a few days!!!
Soon we will head straight back to Everest Base camp where hopefully we will feel a lot better.
I also called my French class (very briefly) and they sent a photo that they would like to feature in the blog. I am so grateful to have a school as supportive as mine! I miss my school friends so much!!
