Today was spent looking at the weather approximately 89473 times. We’re hoping to leave tomorrow night, which is at about 2am on the 18th. This would give us a summit date of the 22nd or 23rd of May.
In the morning I felt pretty down, just from having to wait so long at base camp. When I was back home, hearing about people’s worsened mental health up here waiting, I didn’t think it would affect me. But I guess the altitude has tired me out a lot, and I have spent so many days up here, and every minor inconvenience made me sad. Luckily a 2 hour nap made me feel much better.
Also Charlie from Everest Live, gave me a t-shirt and that also cheered me up.
We had lunch, and saw Prakriti who had just summited Lhotse. She is such an incredible woman and I really aspire to be like her. She showed me photos, it looked amazing, and it only made me want to see these views for myself!
We had dinner with Gaby, and a few others, and tried to do a crossword but failed miserably. Hopefully this is my last full night of sleep at base camp before leaving for our push!
