Today was the day we were supposed to pack our high altitude climbing gear up, to leave for camp 1 that night.
I planned my day with a nap in the morning, lots of fluids (can help thin out blood to minimise frostbite), lots of food and an organised tent. However at dinner time when everything was packed, we were informed about an avalanche that had occurred in the Icefall. Although this avalanche didn’t kill anyone, it destroyed part of the route from Base camp to camp 1.
Dad and I, as well as some other team members will now have to wait a few more days for the Icefall doctors to change the route, and for the snow quality to improve.
In the meantime, we will go up to Pumori high camp tomorrow to acclimatise some more.
