Bianca messaged and confirmed that she has now reached Camp 4. She said she is feeling good – but hot! It’s a challenging climb from Camp 3 to Camp 4 – straight up for a lot of it, then traversing towards the left for a bit, then crossing the Geneva Spur which can also be quite technical.
She left very early so was ahead of most of the crowds – it seems a lot of other people are targeting the 20th as a summit date too.
She is now in a tent up there and resting. She’ll be trying to hydrate and drink as much as possible – although to get water, you need to melt snow. Plus, she’ll try to eat as much as she can – again challenging at altitude as most people find it difficult to eat at altitude.
By leaving early it also means that she has more time to rest. It’s not quite decided what time she’ll leave for the summit attempt, but she’ll have at least 8 hours to rest and try to recover from today’s climb.
Thanks everyone for all the messages of support!
Here are some photos she was able to send through via satellite.

They would have climbed in the dark for a couple of hours. But it’s beautiful once dawn breaks.

Looking back down towards camp 3 – see the line of people coming up!

Heading up and traversing across – close to the Geneva Spur.

Climbing up the steep Lhotse Face.
