Everest day 28 – GETTING REAL

4 May 2026 · By Bianca

In the morning, first things first, I checked the Garmin trackers of my friends who had left through the icefall last night. They were all at camp 1! (except Kristen who is a beast and went to camp 2)

We had a quiet breakfast, then I organised my tent, and got gear out. It takes quite a while, because I needed to organise how much food I need, such as protein shakes (we have them immediately after any long day of climbing), gels, muesli bars, chocolate, nuts, and fructose and maltodextrin powder in our water for extra carbs.

We then had lunch, and I did some more filming, (this time about my packing) with the German crew. I then packed and organised some more, and filmed a tiktok update video.

I was super excited because I met up with Ben Ayers who is the founder of Everest Live and a writer for Outside Magazine. We did some updates on Everest Live last year on Everest, and we can now laugh about all of the negativity we get on the socials about Everest. We did a short interview, which was super fun, and he’s really easy to talk with! I also met up with Murilo, from Brazil who had the same issues as me last year on our summit day. It’s nice to have someone who shares the same experience I had last year on Everest.

We had a quick dinner, then headed to bed. I had to organise a couple of little pieces, and now I’m about to go to sleep!

I’m super excited for the rotation, and to go through the icefall. Yes it’s one of the most dangerous sections of Everest, but we all have to go through it, so we might as well have fun with it! It’s such a special place, and the Khumbu icefall is one of the most beautiful places I have been. So I’m choosing to focus on the beauty!!

Leaving at 1am here! There is a link to my tracker on the blog, and in my instagram bio! It updates every 10 minutes. (sometimes the tracker map can go off the “path”, but please don’t think I have fallen off the mountain!!)
