This was our first full day at Everest Base Camp, and unfortunately we said goodbye to our trekking friends, as they left for Kathmandu in the morning.
After breaky, I did some maths work in the dining tent! Unfortunately, I am yet to find someone who is able to help me with maths here!
A couple of hours after breakfast, is when it is the warmest, so I decided to take a “shower”. I asked the cook tent for a bucket of hot water, and 15 minutes later it was waiting for me in the shower tent! It felt amazing to be clean and have washed hair (after 13 days of no shower 👀👀).
Next up was lunch, and we had BURGERS which were sooooo nice! Everyone loses their appetite to a certain extent up here, so it’s really nice that the company gives us good, calorie dense food with lots of variety! Mid lunch, a big group of climbers arrived, amongst them was Matej, who was on Manaslu with us in 2024! Now there are 5 of us from that expedition!
After lunch I rushed back to my tent, because the “A Current Affair” piece was about to air! I was able to watch most of it on a facetime with Mum. I spent most of the afternoon replying to so many messages from my family and friends, but also from hundreds of people on social media! It’s overwhelming in the best way possible!
I had dinner with our now, almost full dining tent (~20 climbers), and afterwards I got to cut the “Welcome Cake”! (as I am the youngest!)
We chatted around the gas heater with Kia’s random music playing, and it’s just amazing to hear people’s stories and experiences!
We have 2 PEOPLE in our dining tent who are aiming to SKI down Everest and Lhotse respectively!!
We have a Pakistani doctor who often has to tell her patients to make lifestyle changes. She wanted to prove to a patient that it is possible to switch up your life, by showing that she can safely go from not knowing anything about climbing, to the summit of Everest!
SO INSPIRING!
We went to bed at about 9pm!
