I haven’t been able to speak to Bianca, yet but she is now on her way down to Camp 2 – where she’ll be reunited with Paul. I can see she’s now past camp 3 where she had a break – and it’s probably another hour or so to camp 2.
She’s no doubt disappointed but she certainly gave it everything she had and I’m so proud of everything she’s done on the mountain. Trying again was a massive effort – especially after spending two nights at Camp 4 in the extreme high altitude.
After staying at Camp 2 tonight, the plan will be for Bianca and Paul to climb down through the icefall tomorrow and get down to basecamp. I’m so looking forward to giving her the biggest hug!
