Today we spent our first full day in base camp! And for once it was an legitimate REST day!!!
During the night some of our friends and family had had some trouble with slight altitude sickness and some food poisoning, which is not nice at all. In the morning, Dad walked my sick cousin back down to the next town to help him recover better.
Meanwhile the other trekkers had their first showers in about a week, which everyone loved, even though it is just a big bucket of hot water with a small one to pour it on yourself.
I think the highlight of base camp lifestyle for everyone is the food! We don’t have to stress much about the safety of what we eat, and the food is different to what we had been eating in lodges.
We played our last game of Rummikub (with scottish accents of course) at night time, talked around the warm gas heater, and went into our cold tents to sleep.
